Hot tub heater not working?
When the heater won't fire, the break is in the heating circuit — a failed element, a tripped high-limit, a flow/pressure switch that won't close, a bad sensor, or a worn relay. We isolate which and fix it same-day.

The heater is one circuit with several points of failure
A hot tub heater isn't a single part — it's a chain of components that all have to agree before the element gets power. The board checks that water is flowing, that temperatures are in range, and that nothing has overheated. If any one link reports a problem, the heater stays off, and the symptom looks the same from the topside: no heat.
At the heart of it is the element, which can fail open (so current can't pass) or, less often here, stop conducting after corrosion. Guarding it is the high-limit cutout, which latches the heater off after an overheat and won't reset until the cause is cleared. The flow or pressure switch must sense moving water before the board allows heat, and a temperature sensor that reads wrong can convince the board the tub is already hot.
Finally, even when every input is correct, a worn heater relay on the control board can fail to pass power to the element. Because all of these produce the same cold water, the only reliable approach is to test each link in turn rather than guess. On Balboa, Gecko and HydroQuip packs we can energize and read each component independently to pinpoint the fault.
Test each link, replace the fault, prove it fires
Isolate
We test the element, high-limit, flow switch, sensor and relay one by one to find exactly where the circuit breaks.
Flat quote
With the failed component identified, you get the published price before any work — $69 diagnostic credited 100%.
Replace
We fit the correct part for your spa pack — element, switch, sensor or relay — most often the same day.
Prove it
We watch the heater energize, confirm the water warms, and verify the set-point holds before we leave.
Most heater repairs are completed same-day across Palm Beach County.
Brand quirk: Hot Spring tubs show lights, not codes
If you run a Hot Spring IQ2020 or IQ2000 system, it won't print a text error — it signals heater faults with LED indicator lights instead. We read those patterns directly. Sundance, Jacuzzi and Watkins No-Fault systems use proprietary heaters that we quote separately and accurately.
Flat-rate, published up front
The figure depends on which link failed — a switch, the element, or a full heater assembly — confirmed at your $69 diagnostic.
Not quite your symptom?
No heat, no code
Element, high-limit, flow switch or sensor in the heating chain.
HeaterSensor error (Sn1 / Sn3)
A temperature or hi-limit sensor reading out of range.
HeaterElement replacement
When the heating element has failed open or grounded out.
HeaterTripping the breaker
A grounded element can trip the GFCI as well as stop heating.
Answers before you call
The heater only fires when the board confirms flow and safe temperatures. A stopped heater usually means a failed element, a latched high-limit, a flow switch that won't close, a faulty sensor, or a worn heater relay on the board.
Good circulation rules out some causes but not all. The flow switch may not be closing, a sensor may be misreading the temperature, or the element or relay may have failed. Each is tested separately at the diagnostic.
Hot Spring IQ2020 and IQ2000 systems use LED indicator lights rather than text codes to flag heater faults. We read those light patterns directly to find the failure.
From $149 for a flow/pressure switch, $189 for a heater element, up to a complete heater assembly. You get the flat price before we begin.
